Barbara Ann Joyner, 69, passed away on Saturday September 17 at her residence after an extended illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday September 21, 2011 at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Reverend Donald Combs, Reverend Charles Whatley and Reverend Ed Gill officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in Palmetto Cemetery. The family requests casual attire at the service.
Barbara Ann was born in Savannah, GA November 7, 1941 to the late Gladys Fagan Benton and the late James Robert Benton, Sr. and had been a resident of Brunswick for the past 56 years. Barbara Ann was a graduate of Glynn Academy and a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. She enjoyed church, cooking, sewing, spending time with her family and loved being a grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Robert H. (Bobby) Joyner, her son Robert Allen Joyner, her two daughters Lori Lynn VanAllen (Jim) and Rebecca Ann Buckland (John). Also her brother James Robert Benton, Jr. (Irene), a sister-in-law Shirley Dunn (Bill), a brother-in-law Herbert Hare and her grandsons Thomas Lee VanAllen, James Robert VanAllen, Wyatt John Robert Buckland and Waylon James Robert Buckland, as well as seven nieces and nephews, all of Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lakeside United Methodist Church Youth Program, the South Georgia Navajo Mission Team at 5572 New Jesup Highway, Brunswick, GA 31523 or to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
