Born in Savannah on October 3, 1930, Barbara was shaped by the natural grace, enduring faith, and warm hospitality of the Lowcountry. It was in Savannah where she met and married the love of her life, Andrew Train. Together, they shared 58 devoted years of marriage and family life before his passing.
After residing in Brunswick, Barbara and Andrew made their home in Darien in 1974. Over more than five decades, Darien became the heart of her world. Barbara spent many rewarding years serving her community through her work with the Glynn County School System, where her dedication and gentle presence left a lasting impression before her retirement.
Her faith was the anchor of her life. Barbara was a devoted member of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church in Darien, where she found immense comfort, fellowship, and joy in serving her parish family.
Above all, Barbara’s greatest legacy is her family, whom she loved beyond measure. She is survived by her three children: Joe Train of Darien, GA; Robbyne Harrington of Darien, GA; and Jason Train of Long Beach, MS.
Nothing brought Barbara greater pride or joy than her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She leaves behind cherished memories with her grandchildren, Jonathan Harrington, Haylee Train, Trevor Train, and Cameron Train, as well as her precious great-granddaughter, Ivy Lee Train, each of whom held a truly special place in her heart.
A woman of gentle strength, deep roots, and boundless love for her family, Barbara will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Information regarding a celebration of Barbara’s life will follow at a later date.
