As I rode my bike up to one of the Sea Island homes on the Christ Church tour one year I saw Ben getting off one of the buses bringing people for the tour. I called out to him and gave him a big hug. With his beautiful grin he explained that all the people on the tour were shocked over and over as Sea Island ladies (and men) kept enthusiastically greeting and hugging him at every stop. Anyone who knew this precious man would have understood why. What a beautiful and original work of art Ben was! He will be missed.

I Knew Ben for over 30yrs. I never have met anyone so kind, funny, endless wit, always there when you needed him. He had so much talent, a true artist.

I will so miss Ben...the lover of the long conversation, the generous heart, and always the caring friend. I send prayers, hugs and love to his family. Peggy Everett

Ben has been a bright spot in my life for many years.  I'll miss his calls asking about a color of mat board he needs, or just dropping in the shop on his way home to sit and talk. I wish for him peace now and pray that he and Reggie are together again.  My deepest sympathy to his family.  We have all lost a bright spot in our lives.

I will always remember Ben's unfailing kindness & sweet spirit. There are few people with absolutely no meanness to be found in them. Ben was one of those. He will be remembered with much affection.

I am so very sorry to hear this sad news. Ben was unfailingly upbeat and cheerful whenever I saw him.  I believe he had been in my mother's Spanish class at Glynn Academy.  She always had nothing but the highest praise for Ben.  He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss!  Ben was one of my closest friends when we were young, and I was so glad to get back in touch with him at the recent reunion. the world lost one of its greats!
