Betty Ruth Braddock

Betty Ruth Braddock, age 81, of Brunswick, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Betty Ruth was a graduate of Glynn Academy, class of 1949. She also attended the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Nursing in 1952. Later that year, she returned home and began her nursing career as a registered nurse with Babcock and Wilcox, where she worked for 4 years before leaving to join the staff at the Brunswick Hospital. She retired from the Southeast Georgia Health Center in 1986. Betty Ruth was a member of Northside Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed being outdoors and was a fabulous wife, mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as “Momo”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Essie Mae Hill.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Leon Braddock of Brunswick; two daughters, Brenda Bell (Ricky) and Nancy Holcomb, both of Brunswick and two grandchildren; Lauren Holcomb and Spencer Holcomb, also of Brunswick.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Craig Hartzog officiating. Visitation will be held immediately after the service.
