Betty Henderlight Smith

She retired from Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA where she and her beloved husband Thurl lived and raised their two sons. After retirement and the death of her husband, she moved to Brunswick where she was employed at her son’s dental practice for 21 years. She cheerfully reminded patients of their appointments each day and loved the relationships she developed over the years with patients and her work family. She was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a member of St Mark’s Episcopal Church where she served on the altar guild for many years. She was also active in Daughters of the King and a graduate of EfM. She enjoyed each moment with her children and grandchildren and prioritized her family above all else. She was preceded in death by her parents Dora and Carl Henderlight, her husband Thurl (Red) Smith, her siblings Lucille Griffin, Lue Banks, Maggie Guilliams, Anita Mays and Danny Henderlight.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Smith of Atlanta and Tom Smith (Lisa), her grandchildren Alanna Smith Bindel (Patrick) and Brooks Smith of Brunswick and her brother, Jimmy Henderlight of Knoxville, TN.

The family will receive visitors at Edo Miller Funeral Home on Thursday August 24 at 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at St Mark’s Episcopal Church on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Murphy Cemetery in Moultrie, Georgia at 3:30 pm.
