Born October 11, 1921 Bob lived his entire life in Brunswick and St Simons Island, GA except for his time in the South Pacific in the US Navy during WW2 and in Atlanta when he attended Georgia Tech. He served as Executive Vice President of Concrete Products, later WR Grace, and later owned Bob Brown Engineering Associates until he retired. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and then cooking the results for family and friends.
He was married to Mary Nowell in 1946 until her death in 1963. They had 3 children: Robin Zimmerman(Charles), Bob Dart Brown, Jr. (deceased), and Libby Billingsley(Byron). In August, 1964 he married Janie Carter Groover(deceased) and combined their families adding Laurie Bullard(John deceased) and Chuck Groover(deceased) to his family. He is survived by grandchildren: Jessica Billingsley(John), Christopher Zimmerman, Paxton Billingsley(Liz) )Melissa Zimmerman, April Billingsley(Clark Williams), Janie Bullard(Drew Weldon), Peyton Cook(John) and Great grandchildren: Madison Zimmerman, Zoe Koehler, Reed, Sora, and Quinn Billingsley, Madeline Ianessa, and Wade Weldon.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Friday, January 17, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, Brunswick, GA where he was a lifelong member.
