Brenda Bradley Adams

Brenda Joyce Bradley Adams, born July 5, 1942, passed away on September 20, 2026. She was born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia, where she met her husband, Boyd "Buddy" Franklin Adams, in high school. The two went on to build a lifelong partnership, and a family rooted in faith and service.

Brenda graduated from Western Carolina College with a degree in education. She began her career teaching at Cartersville High School, where she also coached the tennis team and the women's basketball team, mentoring young athletes and students alike.

Deeply devoted to her community, Brenda served as President of the Cartersville Service League and President of the Cartersville High Booster Club and was a finalist for Woman of the Year. She taught Sunday school in Cartersville and gave her time as a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout leader, shaping the lives of countless young people in the process.

Brenda and Buddy later moved to Saint Simons Island, where they became active members of First Baptist Church. Brenda had a lifelong love of tennis and water sports, and she carried her spirit of community and faith with her throughout her life on the island.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Boyd "Buddy" Franklin Adams; her daughter, Angie Adams, and son-in-law, Frank Dekle; her son, Dr. Brad Adams, and his wife, Meredith. She was a beloved grandmother to Reese and Fletcher Adams, and Tate Dekle, and a cherished godmother to Jeffrey and Brighton Whigham.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Saint Simons Island. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be sent to First Baptist Church, Saint Simons Island.
