Lynette was born on November 9, 1940, at Brunswick City Hospital to William and Margaret Meeler. She grew up in Brunswick, Georgia, where she graduated from Glynn Academy High School.
Lynette loved deeply, laughed freely, and had a way of making everyone she met feel welcome. Her friendly demeanor, generosity, and gift of hospitality were cherished by all who knew her. She truly never met a stranger and possessed a heart of gold.
Lynette's greatest passion in life was her children. She found joy in cooking for her family and treasured the time they shared together. She loved to sing and dance, and her family will forever cherish the sound of her voice. Some of their sweetest memories are of her singing them to sleep at night. Those songs, her laughter, her warm hugs, and the love she gave so freely will remain in her family's hearts for generations to come.
Lynette's faith in Jesus was a beautiful part of who she was. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior and that this goodbye is not forever.
Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Meeler; her sister, Ann Rooney; and her daughters, Donna O'Haver and Mary Katherine Maassen.
She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly: her children, Joe Maassen; Kimberly Harper (Paul Harper); Brenda Hill (Jason Hill); Teresa Glaude (Mark Glaude); and Dawn Douglas (Gene Douglas); her siblings, William H. Meeler Jr., Cindy Aldridge, and Debbie Padgett; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends whom she dearly loved.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Gracemore Nursing & Rehab for the exceptional care they provided to their mother and, most importantly, for the love they showed her each and every day. The kindness, compassion, and devotion you gave her will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gracemore Nursing & Rehab or the American Cancer Society.
