

Carol Lemke, 74, of St. Simons Island, GA passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Magnolia Manor, surrounded by loving family members. A native of Fon du Lac Wisconsin, Mrs. Lemke was born February 6, 1942 to the late Earl D. Crane and the late Margaret Barnett Crane. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa. She later received her Nursing degree from Kahler Methodist School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota.
Mrs. Lemke worked over a span of 30 years as a nurse in a variety of departments which included obstetrics, surgery, and oncology in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Virginia; her favorite being the care she provided to veterans at the VA hospital in Minneapolis, MN. She was a member of Our SavioUr Lutheran Church in Southern Pines, NC, where she formerly resided before moving to St. Simons Island nine months ago. She also attended Wesley United Methodist Church St. Simons Island. Mrs. Lemke interests included reading, gardening, quilting, cooking, and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lemke was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Serafina, and her brother Gary Crane.
Survivors include her husband Dick Lemke of St. Simons Island, GA, two sons Matt Lemke and daughter-in-law Beth of St. Simons Island, GA and Eric Lemke and daughter-in-law Sue of Torrington, CT; a sister Mary Ellen Weston of Kansas City, MO; one grandson Devon Malarkey of Seattle, WA; four granddaughters Maleita and Maeve Lemke of Torrington, CT; and Julia and Abigail Lemke of St. Simons Island, GA; and eleven nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church, St. Simons Island with Reverend Gene Yates officiating. An Inurnment will follow at Wesley United Methodist Church Columbarium. Additionally, a celebration of Mrs. Lemke's life will be held in Pinehurst, NC at a later date to be determined by the family.
