I am so deeply saddened at the loss of my best childhood friend, Catherine. There is hardly a memory from those growing up years that does not include Catherine, in some way. We shared our deepest secrets and first crushes with each other. I knew the Avret’s home as well as my own. Our adult lives took us on very different paths, but whenever we were able to get together, it was as if we had never been apart. I will always remember Catherine’s smile, and the way she would say my name with her sweet Southern drawl. She always seemed to see the best in others, and her kindness to me over the years has truly been a blessing. I love you, Catherine, and miss you, so much!

Sending our love and heartfelt sympathy to Farren, Dr. Bud, Stella and all of Catherine’s family. The Smiths and Avrets share so many fond memories, and I know Catherine was among many of them.

I am so deeply sorry for the loss of Catherine. Catherine was more than three years my senior, and so I could have easily been a pest to her. If I was, she never showed it. My memories are of a playmate and partner on summer beach trips or during visits to Rome and Decatur. We would team up to play some small trick on our older siblings, or, more often, team up to try to tag along with them. Catherine was kind, helpful, and thoughtful. With much sorrow and deepest sympathy -

I am so very sad about the loss of Catherine. I have so many cherished memories involving her and her sister, my best friend. We had many great times on joint family beach trips to Jekyll Island, staying at The Sand Dollar, and later at Hilton Head. Catherine was especially kind to my younger sister Gena. I remember her love for animals and all of the family pets: Lassie, Prancer, Muff. We made memories at each other’s houses, going to the pool, playing in our rooms, spending precious time together. In later years I have not been able to see Catherine much, but I was so happy to reconnect on social media. Our hearts break over this sad loss.

I miss your smile. When you laughed, it lit up the whole room. I desperately wanted more time with you. Godspeed, my beautiful sister.
May you know how much you were loved.
