Cecil Murvin Norvell, Jr., age 76, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Mr. Norvell was a native of Oklahoma City, OK, but had resided in Glynn County for the last 28 years. He graduated from Oklahoma City High School and attended Georgetown Law School. Mr. Norvell proudly served as a Lance Corporal in the US Marine Corp for 4 years, earning the Good Conduct Medal. He went on to work at Wal Mart as a manager prior to his retirement in 2006. He was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mr. Norvell had a lifetime passion for fresh water fishing which he enjoyed sharing with his son, hosting and attending family gatherings where he always had a funny story to tell, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, TJ Norvell.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene T. Norvell; two daughters, Theresa Norvell Carter (Terry) of Savannah and Margaret Norvell Phillips of Brunswick; a daughter-in-law, Karen K. Norvell of Brunswick; four granddaughters, Krista L. Norvell and Nicole A. Norvell, both of Brunswick and Savina M. Carter and Marin E. Carter, both of Savannah; three grandsons, Charles Joseph Norvell of Brunswick, Cecil Robert Norvell of Brunswick, and William S. Carter of Savannah; a brother, Phillip Norvell of Arkansas; a sister, Dorothy Norvell of Oklahoma City, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Father Wilfred Logsdon officiating. A private family burial will be held at Chapel Park Cemetery.
