She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Irma Favillo and Peter Leohodus. She graduated from the Los Angeles High School in 1950. Upon graduation her best friend convinced her on a whim to go to Hawaii on a short trip. She ended up staying. While in Hawaii, her future husband (a Coastie) saw her and told a friend that was the girl he was going to marry without even meeting her. They became Mr. and Mrs. Parker Parsons on September 9, 1951.
As they traveled up and down the East Coast as Parker was serving in different locations, she had her one and only child Sheila who lives in Maine. In addition to Sheila, Cindy is survived by her brother Ozzie and her niece Brenda both in California.
When Parker was stationed on St. Simons they decided they would retire on the Island. A few years later, Parker was stationed in Brunswick and started building their home on the Island before his retirement from the Coast Guard.
Even though they were settling down, Cindy still had the travel bug and loved going to winter wonderlands for Christmas. Places like Banff, Whistler, and Jackson Hole were some of her favorites.
Aside from working in their tv store keeping books and assisting customers after Parker’s retirement from the Coast Guard, she also loved gardening and ceramics. One thing she did NOT enjoy was cooking! She loved eating and would be more than happy for someone to cook for her or order in.
In her latter years Cindy loved nothing better than rearing back in her recliner and flipping on the Hallmark Channel on her 65” tv.
In remembrance of Cindy, donations to the Hospice of the Golden Isles would be appreciated as they made her last few weeks comfortable and pain free.
