Cynthia Renee Smith

Renee Smith passed very peacefully at home September 5, 2026 after a three year battle with a rare neurological disease, Multiple System Atrophy. She had been under extended care of hospice and the attention of nurse Allison Wells.

She was born on April 19, 1958 in Brunswick. She was raised in San Diego, then returned to Brunswick with her family to finish high school. She graduated from Glynn Academy in 1976.

Renee started working with Tom’s Vending followed by a career in safety and quality at International Auto Processing and Aero-Instant.

Renee was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Idella Flinton. She is survived by longtime friend and caregiver Sue Hendrix, childhood friend Joene Conley, and Kay Gonsalves.

Renee was an animal lover, especially cats and dogs. She enjoyed playing golf and watching it on tv. Renee's incredibly quick wit was unmatched except for her attention to details. In her youth she would engage in adventures in Balboa Park and at the beach, which were favorite pastimes. Renee made long lasting friendships and always saw the best in others.
