

Dabney “Stump” Craighill, 85. Of St. Simons Island died Saturday May 28, 2011 at Marshe’s Edge. Graveside service will be held 2 pm. Tuesday May 31, 2011 at Christ Church of Frederica Cemetery with Reverend William Littleton officiating. Interment will follow the service.
Family will receive friends after the service Tuesday May 31, 2011 from 2:30 pm. until 4 pm. at Marsh’s Edge 136 Marsh’s Edge Lane St. Simons Island
Mr. Craighill was born May 21, 1926 in Lynchburg, VA to Dabney H. Craighill and Pinkney ( Goffigon) Craighill. He was educated in Lynchburg public schools, Episcopal High School and University of Virginia. At the University of Virginia he was a member of Delta Kappa, Epsilon , Eli Banana, and Trigon Engineering Society. He maintained close ties with Episcopal High School where he served as President of the Alumi Association, and served as a member of the Board of Trustees.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and began his sales career in 1952 in the Titanium Division of National Lead Co. He joined Thompson Weinman Co. in 1966 as the Southeastern Sales Manger and in 1992 he became the Atlanta Branch Manager of Ribelin Sales Co.
Mr. Craighill enjoyed visiting his home at Lake Toxaway, NC. Where he served on the Board of the Property Owners Association and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Ann Robison Craighill.
Survivors include his daughter Robin Pounds and son in law Keith, grandchildren Kerry and Meredith Pounds all of Lilburn, GA; two sons Edley Craighill and Wanda Bernhardt of St. Simons Island, Chip Craighill and daughter in law Virginia, grandchildren Katie and Hunter Craighill all of Sawanee, TN.
