David was born September 22, 1924 to the late Potter F. and Lois Futch Gould. He was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and was a graduate of Glynn Academy. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the War he attended the University of Florida and graduated from Middle Georgia College.
Mr. Gould was employed with the Department of Natural Resources from 1950 until his retirement in 1980. He then worked for another five years as Executive Director of the South Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Council.
Mr. Gould was a member of the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick, where he served as a former Senior Warden.
Mr. Gould was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Virginia Holmes Gould.
Survivors are his son, David H.G. Gould, Jr. (Patty) of Nashville, TN., his daughter, Deborah Gould Stubbs (Richard),of Brunswick, Ga., three grandchildren, Teri Stubbs, David H.G. Gould, III and Richard Robbins Gould and one great grandchild, Amelia Reese Gould.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday 11/30/12 in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick with Rev. Alan Akridge officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Churchyard on St. Simons Island.
Active pallbearers will be: Hamilton Gould, Richard Gould, John Mallette, Jimmy Rogers, Tommy Brooks, Ronnie Baxley, Bobby Stubbs, Dan McCrary and Jim Fouche
The family will receive friends in the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home from 7 to 9 PM Thursday 11/29/12 and request in lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church or the Hospice of the Golden Isles.
