David Joseph Love-Oakes Jr.

Born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia, DJ lived his life in a way that was impossible to ignore. He was unique, bold, and full of life. He had an infectious laugh that could brighten any room and a personality that drew people together. To know DJ was to know someone who loved deeply, laughed often, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

He had a passion for Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering, anime, drawing, voice acting, and cooking, and he enjoyed sharing those interests with family and friends. He was a gifted storyteller with a vivid imagination and a wonderful sense of humor. His stubborn streak was well known by those who loved him, but so was his enormous heart. He never hesitated to help someone in need and often put others before himself without expecting anything in return.

DJ was a protective son, a devoted brother, a loyal friend, and a comedian who could always find a way to make those around him smile. He is described by his friends as "a light in a world full of shadows," someone who brought people together and made them happy just by being himself. The friendships he formed reached across the globe, and the love he shared will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving mother, Laminda S. Love-Oakes; his father, Dave Oakes; his brother, Gabriel P. Love-Oakes; and his sister-in-law, Victoria Love-Oakes, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

To those who loved him most, DJ was truly one of a kind. He will be missed by so many people, but his memory will continue to shine brightly. Though his family wishes they could have known just how special he was and how many lives he touched, they find comfort in knowing he left a place in their hearts that can never be filled.

In his mother's words, "DJ, you are my beautiful blond haired, blue-eye, brown-eyed boy. I wonder if you ever truly knew just how special you are and how many lives you touched. Your life will be celebrated and we will never take anything for granted again. I promise that I will watch every show you suggested and go to all the places you wanted to go. Your brother and I promise to live each day fully. We love you." Her greatest hope is that DJ is now free to go to all the places he dreamed of and to live fully in eternal peace with Jesus and his GG.

His laughter, his kindness, and his beautiful spirit will never be forgotten. He will be loved always and remembered forever.
