David Winthrop Scott Jr.

David Winthrop Scott Jr. passed away unexpectedly Monday July, 26 2021. David was born in Aurora, Illinois on December 27, 1948 to Natalie (Taylor) Scott and David Winthrop Scott Sr. After graduating from high school, David voluntarily enlisted into the United States Marine Corp. and served honorably during the Vietnam War. David was the recipient of a purple heart medal for being wounded in battle during his time fighting in Vietnam. After being Honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps, David spent his young adulthood as an academic, completing three Bachelor degrees and one graduate degree in English & Literature.

David was passionate about carpentry and had built extraordinary homes, beautiful furniture and one of a kind ramps that his faithful companion, Mojo, could run up to his bed and couch. David also enjoyed being with his family playing in croquet tournaments where he would regularly impose psychological warfare to make you miss your shot. When the mood struck him he would break free of the chains of his wife's healthy cooking and indulge in his favorite restaurants KFC & Taco Bell and, of course, that liquid gold sent from Heaven, Velveeta Cheese.

David leaves behind his wife, Sally (Walton) Scott of 17 years; his stepson, Jacob Beliveau and his husband, Tim Haaga of West Springfield, Ma.; his stepdaughter, Michelle and her husband, Nicholas Gedmin of Westfield, Ma. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Steven Gedmin and Julia Gedmin; his stepson, John LaFreniere and his wife, Alicia Provenzano and his granddaughter, Leighton Lafrenzano of Seymour, Ct.; his nephew, Michael Procopio and his wife, Megan and their children; Vincenzo and Vito of Austin ,Texas. He, also leaves behind his niece, Haley Cobeely of Florida. David was preceded by his sister, Sharon (Scott) Procopio and her husband, John Procopio and his brother, Andy Scott.

Services will be held privately.

David had previously requested that his obituary end with his favorite quote from Jack Kerouac “I have nothing to offer anyone except my own confusion”.
