Deborah Dianne Winn Manor, 69 passed away Tuesday afternoon at HCA Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, following complications during rehabilitation treatment at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital also in Jacksonville. Deborah was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish.
Born in Brunswick Georgia at the "Old" Brunswick Hospital to the late Woodrow H & Gracie Latham Winn on the 9th day of June, 1952. She is survived by her sister Faye Winn Rappuhn, her Brother In Law, Captain Ralph Farnsworth Rappuhn, United States Naval Reserve, Retired, a nephew Christopher Rappuhn and his family, her husband Clark B Manor (GA 69’), her daughter Karyl Kristen Manor Moore, her son in law Greggory Moore, and her son Colin Ashton Manor. And her one and only most cherished granddaughter Virginia Maddison Moore (FA 21’). And so many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ronnie Craig Winn and "Bubba" Winn and her nephew Nathan Alexander Rapphun.
Deborah attended Sidney Lanier Elementary School, Jane Macon Junior High School and was a member of the first graduating class of the new Brunswick High School in 1970. She attended Brunswick Junior College earning the degree of Associate of Science and the University of Georgia at Athens earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. Throughout her teaching career she taught elementary and pre-school in Athens and Madison Georgia, elementary school in Henry and Ferrum Virginia. She taught elementary school in Jackson and was a Development Officer at The Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey California.
Upon returning to Brunswick she operated a popular used bookstore, ATHENA'S in Varsity Plaza and worked for Bill Brown Co. until her retirement.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she led, supported and traveled with Kristen, Colin and Maddison throughout their educational and extracurricular activities. She loved traveling to cheer competitions with CGA and could be heard from the rafters cheering on our local All Stars. She loved see all the girls grow up, and now in there married lives and families of their own. She was everyone’s mom when you needed it and sometime when you didn’t and she was everyone’s "Granny" as she was called by all the kids throughout the years.
Through both good and challenging times, she was a rock of support and a vessel outpouring of love and inspiration to anyone who meet her. She guided her family through three major moves from the mountains of Virginia, West Tennessee and finally to California and ultimately back to Georgia. Her only agenda was the success of her family.
Those who knew her best would always say that regardless of what was going on she was going to smile and have the best time. Her many years of health issues hindered her body, but her spirit could not be broken. It is with the greatest gratitude to the countless Doctors and NURSES that gave us so much more time than we ever could have dreamed of. She would always say thank you, no matter much it hurt, she was thankful for them and their dedication to her care. Please hug a nurse, check your blood sugars regularly, drink lots of water and get out in the world!!! She wanted nothing to more than to just keep seeing more. She would tell us all to have an adventure and a ChiChi (Pina Colada w/vodka vs rum) for her. Eat lots of watermelon and hug your family as much as you can. She was one of a kind and as her momma always said, "SPECIAL"!!
If you would like to remember her with a gift to the National Kidney Foundation, it would be amazing to help her continue to shine on and helping give others on dialysis more with their loved ones as they did for all of us.
A visitation and rosary for Deborah will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave, Brunswick, GA.
