

Dr. Fehr was born March 5, 1930 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to Cyril and Miriam Fehr. He was a graduate of Germantown High School in Philadelphia. Upon graduation in 1948 he entered the United States Navy as a Radio Operator where he served 7 years, including the Korean Conflict. In 1952 he married Peggy Wagner with whom he had 5 children. During his time in the Navy, Don received a call to enter the ministry. He attended Pennsylvania Military College in Chester Pa. and Conwell School of Theology in Philadelphia. Upon graduation in 1965, he accepted a call to minister at Port Kennedy Presbyterian Church in Port Kennedy, Pa. In 1976, Don accepted a call to be the minister of Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church on Jekyll Island, where he was the minister for 20 years. In 1983 Don earned his Doctor of Divinity from McCormick Seminary of Chicago, Illinois. In 1995 his wife Peggy passed away a week before his retirement. After his retirement from Jekyll Presbyterian, Don married Sylvia Jorgeson and moved to Thomaston, Georgia. During his retirement years Don enjoyed traveling the world but he always ended up back in the Golden Isles. He was bestowed with the honor of being named Pastor Emeritus of Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church. Upon Sylvia’s death in 2012 Don relocated back to Brunswick to be closer to his family.
Dr. Fehr is survived by his five children, Chuck Fehr(Trish), Sue Turner ( Del), Nancy Meeden (Glenn), Betsy Turner ( Robbie), and Pete Fehr ( Kim); his grandchildren Liz Fehr Paige ( Brandon), Dane Fehr ( Stephanie), Skip Turner, Scott Turner ( Nikki), Emily Meeden, Andrew Turner ( Becca), Brian Turner, Lauren Turner, John Fehr, and Kate Fehr; his great grandchildren Tristan Turner, Charlie Paige, Mary West Turner, and Whit Fehr.
In addition to his wives, Dr. Fehr was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Richard Fehr, Peter Fehr and Grandson Donald Charles Fehr III.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church with the Reverend Dr. John Law officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church social hall.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church or First Baptist Church of Thomaston, Georgia.
