Dorothy Reeves Ellis

Born August 30, 1929 she passed from this life to the next on June 27 2010 in Brunswick, Georgia. She was born in Newnan, Ga. to James and Zelda “Pappy” Reeves and after High School and college met her husband Dr John Ellis in the spring of 1956 when she went to him as a patient they were engaged by Labor day and Married right before Christmas that year. Dr John and Dot Ellis were married for 53 years. They lived in Griffin until their retirement in 1992 when they moved to St Simons Island GA. She owned The Treasure Chest antique and gift shop for years and a Slender You Salon. She is survived By her husband Dr John Ellis Jr. of St. Simons Island, Three daughters, Joni Bodie of Mississippi and Jill Ellis and Julie Ellis of St Simons Island, Ga. Two grandsons, Jamey Ellis and John Ellis III of St Simons Island, 5 great grandchildren, Ada Rae, Regan Marie, John Tyler, Justin, and James Jonathon Ellis all of St Simons Island. And her brother BJ “Billy” Reeves a niece Marilyn Reeves, of Griffin, Ga., and a nephew Billy Reeves of Atlanta, GA.

There will be a visitation and Celebration of her life Tuesday evening at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA from 6-8 pm and there will be one in Griffin, GA Wednesday evening at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home from 6-8pm. She will be laid to rest at the Oak Hill Mausoleum in Griffin on Thursday morning July 1, 2010 at 11 am.
