Born on October 11, 1936, in Leavenworth, Kansas, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Roy Memory Hoag and Alice Levitte Hoag Smith. She was the last surviving member of nine siblings.
Dorothy was a hardworking and dedicated woman throughout her life. She attended nursing school and worked at Medical Arts Center in Brunswick as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. She also worked as a shrimp packer at Sea Harvest and at Crews Restaurant. No matter where she worked, she was known for her strong work ethic and caring spirit.
Dorothy had a feisty personality and a zest for life. She loved shopping, vacationing with her family, and was always on the go. She especially adored her beloved dog, Mocca, who brought her much joy and companionship through the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Otto Latham; her son, David Lee Latham and his wife, Debbie Latham; her grandson, Justin Dewayne Latham; and her great-grandchildren, Gage Justin Latham and Mia Lena Long.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Larry Latham (Karen) of St. Simons Island, Georgia; Tim Latham (Brenda) and Dewayne Latham (Lisa), both of Hampton, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Dorothy will be remembered for her strength, determination, loving heart, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
There are no services at this time. The family will hold a memorial service and private burial in the Palmetto Cemetery at a later date.
