

Dot was born November 26, 1924, in Hoboken, Georgia to Nolan Cromwell Davis Sr. and Myrtle Marie Newton Davis. She attended Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia and Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She also attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dot became well versed in typing and shorthand and was the Secretary for Florida Senator Mattox Hair as well as the Duval Legislative Delegation in Jacksonville, Florida. She was also the Office Manager and Administrative Assistant for Dean of Students; Dean of Women, Dr. Martha P. McGee at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida where she enjoyed her time molding students and supporting the JU, Alpha Delta Pi chapter as well as other sororities, in their endeavors.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce C. Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; her son, William A. “Andy” Thomas Jr. of Quincy, FL; sister, Joyce D. Shelander of St. Simons Island, GA; grandchildren, William Jones, Amber Langston, Sarah Thomas, and Drew Thomas; great-grandchildren, Caleb Jones, Aidan Jones, Bayleigh Blount, Brenna Blount, Noah Sibley, Mae Sibley, and Roscoe Sibley; and nieces Margaret Dixon, Diane Davis, Joan Miles, and Rachel Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nolan C. Davis, Sr.; mother, Myrtle M. N. Davis; son, Paul A. Thomas; brother, Nolan C. Davis, Jr.; and sister, Louise Davis Abell.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00am at The City of Hoboken Cemetery in Hoboken, Georgia.
