Earl J. Padgett, Sr, 69, of Kingsland, Georgia, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday September 25, 2012. Born April 20, 1943 in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of the late Isham J. and Geneva Sheffield Padgett.
He is survived by wife Betty, son Earl “Buzzy” Padgett, daughter Tracy Logan and husband Mark and their children Chris and Tyler Logan; two sisters Rosa Bristow and Evelyn Foster and brother Don Padgett. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Marvin Padgett, Julia Ann Adams, Ella Mae Cox, Janet Collier, Russell Padgett, Isham “Bill” Padgett, Jr. and Robert Padgett.
Earl had been a resident of Kingsland, Georgia for the past 12 years, and was a former resident of Waverly, Virginia. He had served as Commander of American Legion Post 191, and was a member of Waverly Baptist Church. Earl was a U.S. Army Veteran. His passion for hunting extended through numerous clubs and community events. Earl enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 from 6PM until 8PM in Crooked River State Park, St. Marys, Georgia. A Virgina service is being planned for later in the fall.
