January 26, 1950 – December 26, 2024
Edith Elizabeth Randolph passed away on December 26, 2024, in St. Simons Island GA after an extended illness. She was born on January 26, 1950, to the late Dr. Rivington and Edith (Murph) Randolph of Athens GA. She was also predeceased by both her paternal and maternal grandparents Dr. William Tandy (Evelyn Patrick) Randolph of Winder GA and Burke Baldwin (Regina DeGraffenried) Murph of Marshallville GA.
Fondly known as Betty, her youth was spent in Athens with frequent trips to Lake Lanier for water skiing. She attended Athens High School, Queens College and received a BS Ed from the University of GA and later her Masters in Guidance. In 1972, she started her beautiful life on St. Simons Island and never left. Betty spent 30 years working at Brunswick High School, proving to be a wonderful teacher, guidance counselor and friend to her students. Betty had a passion for life and could light up a room with her unique laughter, the sparkle in her eyes and her warm smile along with her ability to make a story out of any incident. Betty was active in her church choir for years and enjoyed all music. She surrounded herself with family and friends, who were her touch stone and all received the benefits of her loyalty, caring heart and loving spirit. Her gift to us was the easy warmth of a kind, loving person, whose decency touched all.
She is survived by her sisters Nancy (Larry) Jones, Amelia Island FL and Kathy (Luke) Mims, Pickens SC. Every child was hers and her family included nieces and nephews Randy (Jessica) Jones, Beau (Julie) Jones, Regan (Scott) Thompson, DeLesline (Ryan) Caulder, Michael (Christine) Mims, Taylor VanLandingham. She also leaves behind her many, many lifelong friends. Along with her parents and grandparents, she was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Sam VanLandingham.
We will celebrate the life of beautiful Betty on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 2:00 PM at College Place Methodist Church in Brunswick GA. Visitation will be held after the service in the church fellowship hall.
Betty may be honored with donations to Marshes of Glynn Library Legacy Fund, Humane Society of South Coastal GA or a cause that is dear to your heart.
