2013. A celebration of life funeral mass will be held at St. William's Catholic Church on Tuesday the 6th of August at 1O:30 A.M. A reception will follow.
Mr. McGrath filled his life with laughter, love, and light. He found joy in everything from watching
the Cubs at Wrigley Field with his father and surfing in California to playing tennis and golf with
friends and snow skiing with his wife. Jerry was often seen wearing his Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops
while riding his scooter around the island. He cherished spending time joking with friends and family
over a cold Miller Lite and doing the little things in life that brought comfort to those in need of
peace.
Jerry had a long, successful corporate career prior to relocating to St. Simons Island in 1999, where he
met his wife, Vel. Together they co-founded CoastLink Realty, Inc. where Mr. McGrath served as
Broker. But Jerry found his true calling when he founded PhotoArt by Elexis to pursue his passion for
photography and his artistic vision. He was a member of the Coastal Photographers Guild, the Florida
Keys Council of the Arts, and a juried member of the Glynn Arts Association. His work captured the
beauty of St. Simons Island, Georgia; Key West, Florida; and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico; and he
enhanced each photograph to create artwork reflective of the mood when the image was originally
captured.
Mr. McGrath was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelia Stratton and Elexis William McGrath.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Vel Knight McGrath of St. Simons Island; daughter Michelle
McGrath of Richmond; daughter Jennifer Maciejewski and her husband, Joseph, of Atlanta and
grandchildren Catherine and Elizabeth; stepson Gregory Duncan and his wife, Jennifer, of Dallas and
grandchildren McKenna and Grayson; and his sister, Kim Lyons.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial donation may be made to the Glynn Art
Association, 529 Beachview Drive, St. Simons Island, GA31522, or the American Cancer Society, 3011
Hampton Avenue, Brunswick, GA31520.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home and Oglethorpe Crematorium in Brunswick.
