Elizabeth "Bett" Bright Meyer

Bett was born on June 26, 1930, in Elizabeth, Louisiana, to John and Leila Bright. Throughout her remarkable 96 years, she embraced life with enthusiasm, resilience, and an unwavering spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bett cherished her family above all else. She found tremendous joy in gathering loved ones together (especially for 5:00 pm Happy Hour), celebrating life's milestones, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Bett was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Biro, in 1983; her son, Jeff Biro, in 1981; her dear husband, Bob Meyer, in 2025; and the many loyal canine companions who brought her joy throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Oxford (Charles) and Lisa King (Wade); her granddaughters, Sarah McAbee, Shannon McCorkle, and Lindsay LeTellier, her great-grandchildren, Rhett McAbee and Andi McCorkle; her remaining sibling Sis Adamson, as well as her many nieces and nephews, and Bob’s children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.

Those who knew Bett will remember her as a woman who lived life on her own terms. She was quick-witted, fiercely independent, and wonderfully ornery in a way that kept everyone on their toes. Stubborn when she needed to be and playful whenever she could be, Bett brought laughter, energy, and personality to every room she entered. Beneath her strong spirit was a loving and devoted heart, especially when it came to her family. Her sharp sense of humor, unwavering determination, and ability to find joy in life's everyday moments made her unforgettable to all who knew and loved her. Her presence was impossible to ignore, and her absence will be deeply felt.

While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy lives on through the family she loved dearly and the countless lives she touched along the way. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Georgia Hospice Care. The family would also like to extend special thanks to Josey Spivey of Georgia Hospice Care for her kindness, care, and compassion.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 19, 2026, at the Parker Cottage at 4:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Bett's extraordinary life and the many memories she leaves behind.
