Elizabeth Rogers Wigg

Elizabeth Rogers Wigg, 94, of Jekyll Island, departed this life Monday, January 15, 2018 at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Friday January 26, 2018 at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church on Jekyll Island with Father Buzz Yarborough officiating.

Born September 9, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Gilbert E. and Ruth W. Rogers. She loved her work as an executive secretary with several companies, retiring finally from Jersey Central Power and Light. She was an animal lover, and she always had cats, with her faithful Black Bart and Pearl Gray with her at the end. She was a contributor to animal rescue organizations all her life. She loved her God and faithfully went to St Richards Episcopal Church on Jekyll Island which was a source of friendship and strength to her always. She was active on her beloved Jekyll in bridge clubs, mahjong, croquet, and the historical society. She lived a long and happy life and she went peacefully to her God in her own home, surrounded by loved ones. Betty’s family wants to extend our sincere gratitude to all the lovely people on Jekyll who watched over and cared for her for so long. You made her life happy and safe. Survivors include three children, Kevin and Joyce Holden of Summerville, SC, and Lucinda Ruth Holden of Bedford, NH, Martha and Wayne Wigg of Montgomery, PA. Her beloved grandchildren are Brian and Jennifer Holden of Summerville, SC, Mark and Molly Sanborn of Washington, DC, Angel Cassista and Brian Murphy of Derry, NH, Samantha Cassista and Mark Oswald of Bedford, NH, Katie Wigg and Daniel Shrader of Watsontown, PA, and Sarah Wigg of Montgomery, PA. She is the beloved great grandmother to Clare Sanborn and Charlotte Sanborn.
