Ellis Leverne "Pete" Gordon

Ellis Leverne “Pete” Gordon, 90, of Crescent, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Southeast Georgia Health System. His funeral service will be held Monday, October 7, 2013 at Crescent Baptist Church starting at 2PM with a visitation starting at 12 PM. Rev. Bob Briley will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Bellville Hopkins Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Jason Gordon, Garell Gordon, Dustin Gordon, Dexter Gordon, Billy Joe Nelson and Richard Goode. Honorary Pallbearers include the men of Crescent Baptist Church, the election board, Sheriff Steve Jessup, Clarence Baker and Dr. Balog.

Pete was born in Ludowici, Georgia on March 7, 1923 to the late T.P and Georgia Gordon. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He also was a Deacon of the church for 54 years, 46 of those years being at Crescent Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, four brothers and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife: Dot Gordon; one daughter: Marcia G. Nelson (Billy, Sr.) of Bellville; three sons: Lewis L. (Barbara) “Sambo and Poochie” of Kingsland; Gary E. (Jill) Gordon of Ludowici and Donald E. (Babby) of Bellville; one sister: Frances G. Deloach of Ludowici; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Crescent Baptist Church.
