

Elmer "Buddy" Eugene Joyner, age 85, of Brunswick, Georgia passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 26, 2022. Buddy was born in Brunswick, GA and was a 1956 graduate of Glynn Academy, where he was the quarterback of the football team. Buddy was a longtime, well-loved employee at Georgia Power Company, retiring as manager of Plant McManus. His peaceful and generous spirit will always be remembered.
Buddy loved the Lord and his family. His favorite days were spent fishing. He always looked forward to planting a garden, which he generously shared with others and through the ministry at Loaves and Fishes. He was a wonderful husband, father, and "Yaya" to his grandchildren. He was a member at Christian Renewal Church for 46 years, where he faithfully served as an usher or wherever there was a need.
Buddy is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebekah Ann Joyner; his parents, Lee T. Joyner, Sr. and Marjorie Yarbrough Joyner; and 8 siblings, Margaret Blount, Lily Mae Clay, Betty McConnell, twin sister Thelma Parrish, William Elliot Joyner, Buster Joyner, Pete Joyner, and Sonny Joyner. As well as three dearly loved brothers-in-law, Bernie Hanson, Earl Parrish, and Charles DeCurtis.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of almost 65 years, Mickie. His children, Spencer Joyner (Karen) and Sandee Lukitsch (Bill). His surviving siblings, Ann Ehrlich, Doris Hanson, and Vivian DeCurtis. Also grandchildren, Matthew Joyner, Lydia Smith (Jonathan), Grace Barrett (Jon), John Drew Whittingslow (Jessica), Daniel Whittingslow, and Sarah Gray (Matt), as well as 9 great grandchildren.
A visitation to honor memories of Buddy will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A celebration to honor a life well lived will be held at 11am Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Bill Ligon and Pastor Mark Linton will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy’s grandsons, Matthew Joyner, Jon Barrett, Jonathan Smith, Daniel Whittingslow, John Drew Whittingslow, II, and Matthew Gray.
