Ernest "Possum" William Blackmon

Ernest William Blackmon “Possum”, age 70, of Darien, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his residence under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles. Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Medlock officiating. Burial will following the service at 3:30 p.m. in Rob Lewis Cemetery in Nahunta , GA. The retired State D.O.T, Highway Engineers employees will be serving pallbearers.

Mr. Blackmon was born December 10, 1944 in Doctortown, GA, to the late William Thomas Blackmon, and the late Carrie Mae Dover. Mr. Blackmon had resided in Norcross, GA for thirty one years, before moving to Darien, GA in 2010. He retired from the State D.O.T. as a Highway Engineer.

Mr. Blackmon enjoyed spending time with his family, collecting Ink pens, making book marks, and his ministry. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include Mr. Blackmon’s wife of forty years Donna Altman Blackmon ; three sons, Jim Blackmon, Craig Blackmon ( Jamie), and Michael Blackmon; two grand-children, Breiana and Damiyen Blackmon: ; a sister, Patsy Spires; a brother, Ray Blackmon, and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
