Ethel Butler-Wallace, 79, of Brunswick, Georgia, departed this life peacefully under the care of Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick on June 18, 2012. Funeral Services will be held 1PM Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Bethel AME Church, with Rev. William Green, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Sharell Wallace, Gary Odom, Charles Odom, Bernard Odom, John Butler Jr., and Willie Ryals, Jr. serving as pallbearers.
Born November 30, 1932 in Luverne, Alabama to the late Willie and Annie Butler, Mrs. Wallace’s parents moved to Brunswick, Georgia when she was a child and Glynn County remained her home until her death. Mrs. Wallace received her education in the Glynn County Public School System, and she also became a member of Bethel AME Church as a child where continued to be a faithful member. Mrs. Wallace retired from the Glynn County Public School System after 18 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Louis Wallace, a bother John Butler Sr., a son Robert Wallace, and a daughter Valecia Wallace.
Mrs. Wallace leaves to mourn two daughters, Annie Brown (Harvey) of Denton, Texas and Bernice Smith of San Diego, California; a Godson Charles Odom(Latonia)of Brunswick, Georgia; Four sisters Nadine Odom(William) Dorothy Miller (Henry) both of Brunswick, Georgia, Josephine Ryals (Willie) of Detroit, Michigan, Shellie Lang (Julius) of Woodstock, Georgia; Brothers Willie Butler Jr. (Katherine), Charles Butler (Annie), and Rev. Harold Gamble (Elyce) all of Brunswick, Georgia; 8 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
