

Evans Dewayne “Wayne” Underwood, age 71, of Brunswick, died Monday, November 19, 2012. A life-long resident of this area, Wayne enjoyed fishing and shrimping and was known to have the “Kingdom gift of hospitality”. He loved to entertain and especially loved to cook. He was of the Church of God faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Lula Mae Underwood; a son, Randy Underwood; three brothers, Dub, Robert and Russell Underwood; and a sister, Laverne Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rose Grimes Underwood; two daughters, Penny Dupre (Danny) and Pattie Bunkley (Quint), both of Brunswick; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Underwood of Brunswick; six sisters, Sarah Rooks (Jerome), Velma Underwood, Linda Lewis (Virlan), Sharon Underwood (Lee), Debbie Underwood, all of Brunswick and Vanessa Daniels (Jeffrey), of Waycross; four brothers, Ricky Underwood (Carolyn), Rudy Underwood, Thomas Underwood and Clyde Underwood (Donna), all of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Brooke Campbell (Gordy) of Odum, Toby Dupre of Brunswick, Harmoni Choy of Brunswick, Heather Bennett (Dell) of Valdosta, and David Parke (Missy) of Brunswick; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 am at the Sterling Church of God with Rev. Larry Daughtry, Rev. Ray Garner, Dr. Nathan “Snapper” Lane and Rev. Hinton Johnson officiating. Active pallbearers will be Ricky, Rudy, Thomas, Clyde and Debbie Underwood and Vanessa Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Malcolm Wright, Mary Alice West, Doris Thomas, Jordan Choy, Rev. and Mrs. David Inman, Sr., Rev. Earl Lamey and the Waynesville Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Burial will immediately follow the ceremony in Chapel Park Cemetery.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
