Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10
On this day, January 22, 1941 the Lord God with his infinite wisdom blessed Simon and Everlena Scott Perry with a gorgeous Rose, Evelyn Delores Perry. She attended Ralph J. Bunch High School. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Mt. Orum Missionary, where she started numerous auxiliaries in the Church, including The Young Christian Community Choir, which included voices from all the churches. She later continued her membership at First United Christian Church under the leadership of Bishop Tommie Benton. Her love for her church and her community is unspeakable. She later returned her membership to Mt. Orum Missionary Baptist Church.
She was employed as a cook at Glynn County School System and also, for many years, she was employed with Camden County School System as a bus driver and cook.
Her hobbies included cooking for her family and people in her neighborhood. She was an amazing cook and baker. As you can see, her favorite color is red, and she loved to be a classic dresser.
She met and married Eugene Flowers, Sr., and to this union four children were born; one daughter and three sons.
'Ebby', as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Everlena Perry, brother Antonio Hopkins, and sister Jimmie Lee Roberson.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter, Carolyn Macon (Errie) of Springbluff, Georgia; three sons, Eugene Flowers, Jr. (Sadie) of Brunswick, Georgia, Vernice Flowers (Leslie), of Jesup Georgia, and Kevin Flowers (Carol) of Brunswick, Georgia; sister Evelyn Ford of Brunswick, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Leland, Mariah, Sheena, Eugene III, Lacey, Shvonda, and Sequoia; 15 step grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; Her Crystal Owens of Buffalo, New York; her favorite nephew, Darrell Thomas, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia; her Goddaughters Victoria James (Dan) and Elvina Colquitt; Godson Jermey Massey of Springbluff, Georgia; four sisters-in-law, Verna Ward (Alanzo), Cheryl Flowers, Millie Flowers and Louise Flowers; 2 brothers-in-law, Harry Flowers (Sakile) and Lenton Flowers (Clara); her two boys, Romeo and Jack Black; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A visitation for Evelyn will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave, Brunswick, GA 31520. A memorial service will occur Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mount Orum Church, 29136 US Hwy, Waverly, GA 31565.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home of Brunswick, GA. has been entrusted with final arrangements.
