On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, the Pedraza family lost their favorite person and papa unexpectedly. Faustino “Tino” Quiroga Pedraza Jr. (59) of Nashville, TN passed away peacefully in his sleep on the island of St. Simons, Georgia.
Tino was born as the oldest child of Flora and Tino Sr., on November 10, 1963, in El Paso, Texas. He was raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico and spent his youth chasing deep passions in baseball, race cars, hunting, fishing and swimming in the ditch.
While going to school for welding, Tino worked at the local K-Mart where he met the love of his life, Kelly. After announcing the blue light special for the day, he asked her on a date, and the rest is history. Kelly and Tino wed in Mesilla Park, NM on September 7, 1985. They welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer, in 1986, and knew in 1997 that Addison would be the perfect addition to round out their family.
Like his dad, Tino started his career in the trucking industry. He spent his early days working as a truck driver casual for ABF and Yellow Freight before moving into a full-time position at Yellow. Tino hit the roads of southern New Mexico and West Texas for 32 years. Tino served the community and was a member of the Teamsters. In July 2021, Kelly and Tino decided it was time for a new adventure and moved to Nashville, TN, where he took a new role with Yellow as a dock supervisor.
To know him was to love him, and to be loved by him. Tino had a knack for quick friendships and brought so much joy and laughter to everyone in his life. He was witty, comedic, kind, caring and supportive. Tino was always up for a good time. He loved a G&T on the deck, a concert, sprint car races, and exploring new areas with Kelly. He was a great man, and his only fault in life was being a Philadelphia Eagles fan since the early 90s.
Everyone who surrounded Tino knew the love he had for his girls. He always put his family first and was the best girl dad (even before it was cool to be one). They will always remember him for his funny phrases, closed eyes in every photo and his use of kissy face emojis to end each text. His dedication and loyalty to ensuring Kelly, Jen and Addie had the best life was unmatched, and while cut short, they will be forever grateful for their time together.
Tino is survived by his wife Kelly of Nashville; his daughters Jen of Nashville (Nathan) and Addie of St. Simons Island; his brothers Jimmy of Albuquerque and Fernie of Brazito; and his niece and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
The family will announce a celebration of life as details are determined. In lieu of flowers, cards with your favorite Tino memory may be mailed to Jen Thompson at 3911 Ivy Dr. Nashville, TN 37216.
