Frances Evangeline "Vangie" Gault

Native of: Born in Springfield S.C. January 1 1941. Moved to Darien at age 4, June 15, 1945

Length of stay in county of residence: Lived in McIntosh County for 69 years.

Colleges and High School: Graduated from Darien High, Class of '59. Played drums and clarinet.

Employment: Wonderful Mom and Housewife. Day Care Owner and Director for 27 years. She cared for over 200 children in McIntosh County.

Member: Darien Jaycees, McIntosh Rod & Gun Club

Leisure activities: She and many of her family members enjoyed the food and fellowship at the Pizza Inn's Tuesday night buffet.

Church: Active member of the First Baptist Church of Darien, until her health problems would no longer allow her to attend.

Church offices held: Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School leader and active in the Church Training Youth Department.

Hobbies, accomplishments, etc.: She enjoyed sewing clothes and the art of crochet, creating many lovely items. She was an accomplished baker and excelled at decorating beautiful and delicious cakes that rivaled any bakery. An excellent cook, she was known in her family for frying the best shrimp. Her love of gardening produced delicious vegetables, enough canned food to last through a winter and beautiful flowers. She and her beloved husband enjoyed

their getaway cottage on Hurd's Island for many years. Most of all she loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. And finally, in her retirement years, she had great fun driving around town in her shiny new Mustang convertible.

Gault Jr.; Grandson, James Ray Gault III; 5 sisters: Willa Jo Speer Howard of Darien, GA; Jean Bryant Speer King of Jonesboro, GA; Mary Gwen Speer Jackson of Murphy, NC; Saidee Myrtle Speer Woods of Lakemont, GA; Johnnie Ella Speer Strickland of Darien, GA. 5 grandchildren, 2 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceeded in death by: James R. Gault Sr. (beloved husband), Joseph Bryant Speer (father). Sarah Frances Speer (mother)

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Darien, Monday, January 12, 2014 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dimas Diaz and Reverend John Jack Peeler officiating. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lewis Strickland, Ralph Strickland, Bill Strickland, Gregory Gault, Paul Gale, Joe Fault, Mike Horne, Jeffrey Poppell and Richie Ryals. Honorary pallbearers include the nephews of Frances Evangeline Speer Gault,

Dr. Bozinar and Dr. Brooks and Hospice of Golden Isles
