

Frances Burke German, 88, of Brunswick, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta, Georgia. Graveside rites will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 19, 2010 in Baker Cemetery, Harris Neck, McIntosh County, Georgia with Rev. Sammy Chancey and Rev. Ernie Faulkenberry officiating.
Born December 31, 1921 in Savannah, Georgia to the late William Leon Burke, Sr. and Grace Bush Burke Knight, Mrs. German was a homemaker raising two children. Mrs. German was a graduate of Savannah High School and attended Armstrong College in Savannah. She worked as a substitute teacher at Richmond Hill School, and as a Postal Employee at Ford Plantation before she and her husband moved to Brunswick where they owned and operated two Sunoco Service Stations for many years. Mrs. German was a Member of Pine Haven Baptist Church, Brunswick, Georgia and also served as a Pink Lady at South Georgia Regional Health Service hospital, Brunswick Campus for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles McMullen German Sr., a brother, Billy Burke and a sister Marguerite Mols.
Survivors include a son, C.M. "Charlie" German and wife Patricia of Brunswick, a daughter, Judy G. Walker and husband Bill of Savannah, ten grandchildren, Bobby German, Roy German, Mark German, Danny Youngner, Lisa Faulkenberry, Lori Sargent, Stephen Youngner, Randy Crosby, Belinda Mehler and Beth Anders, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
