Gary Fulkerson

Gary L Fulkerson, 70, of Brunswick passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his residence. Gary was born August 18, 1943 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Phillip Brooks Fulkerson and Nellie Pearl Berry Fulkerson. He was a member at First Baptist Church of Brunswick, where he started teaching Adult 4 Couples’ Class and was currently teaching Adult 3 Couples’ Class, which was the joy of his heart. Gary sang in the First Praise Choir, Solo Work and he also enjoyed playing the piano.

He worked at Belk Department Stores for 40 years, serving as the store manager and Group Office in the Southeast; starting in Johnson City, Tennessee, Panama City, Quincy, FL, Lake City, FL, Brunswick, Gainesville, FL, Jacksonville, FL and Dublin, GA retiring in Brunswick.

Gary is survived by his wife: Ruby A. Smith Fulkerson of Brunswick; his son: Jason Brooks Fulkerson (Mary) of Ocala, FL; his grandchildren: Stephanie Fulkerson Arnold (Josh) of Ft. Meyers, FL; Melissa Mimm Johnston (Greg) of Ocala, FL; Jennifer Mieles of Ocala, FL and Douglas Mimm (Grace) of Belleview, FL; five great grandchildren, and several nieces and great nieces and nephews by marriage.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM in the Twitty Chapel of First Baptist Church of Brunswick on Friday, October 18, 2013. A celebration of Life Service will begin at 3 PM at First Baptist Church of Brunswick on Friday, October 18, 2013. Honorary pallbearers include: Adult 3 and 4 Couples Class and the First Praise Choir.

The family has requested donations be made to the First Baptist Music Ministry or to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
