He was predeceased by his father Ralph Vernon Bennett and his mother Letha Anna Bennett. Also, a sister, Betty Jean Fagan and a brother, Vernon Bennett.
Gerald was a graduate of Glynn Academy. He married the love of his life, Debra Jane Bennett, in 1989 and served his country in the National Guard for six years. His hobbies included woodworking and he enjoyed working on cars. He will be remembered as a person who was always available to help a neighbor. He was a member of Norwich Baptist Church.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Debra Woodard Bennett, two sisters, Joan Bennett Courson and Verna Lee Carter. One sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wendel and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Norwich Baptist Church, 5661 New Jesup Hwy, Brunswick, Georgia.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Bruce, David Dubberly, Eddie Dubberly, Craig Hawley, Bill Holden, Jason Wendel and Sunday School Class Norwich Baptist Church.
