

Gertrude M. Ange, 94, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully after an extended illness Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Monday, July 25, 2016 at Norwich Baptist church with Rev. Ronnie Thrower and Rev. Bob Bolettieri officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Lynn Taylor, Rayburn Taylor, Sandy Kelly, Andy Kelly, Paul O’Brien, and Logan Kelly serving as pallbearers. Deacons of Norwich Baptist will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born July 1, 1922 in Vidalia, Georgia to the late Henry Alford and Molly Louise B. Thompson, she was a graduate of Center High School in Lyons, Georgia. She had been a resident of Brunswick since she was 19 years old. Mrs. Ange was a former Seamstress for Belk Department store and also owned several rental properties. She was a member of Norwich Baptist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher for 60 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing Rummy and was very active in her church. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and a friend to everyone she met or knew. Mrs. Ange will always be remembered by the smile she wore. She was understanding, caring, forgiving, and gave guidance to her family throughout her lifetime. She was a faithful worker for the Lord and a very devoted Christian. She shared her 94 years with us and has gone home to be with loved ones and the Lord. She will never be forgotten and will be missed greatly by all. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three husbands, Calvin Lamar Ellington, Thomas I. “Bud” Corley and Robert Emsley Ange, Sr., two sons, Jerry Eugene Corley and Thomas Byron Corley, four sisters, Naomi Kramer, Estelle Boyd, Mildred Hill, and Louise McIntyre, and three brothers, Felton “Bunt” Thompson, Sam Thompson, and Frank Thompson.
Survivors include five children, Mary Joe Knight of Greenville, SC, Rev. Steve Corley and wife Mary of Savannah, Jack Randall Corley, Shirley E. Barr, and Linda C. Watson and husband Larry L. all of Brunswick, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles in her memory. www.edomillerandsons.com
