Gloria Messina Hair was born in New York City on October 14, 1927 and passed away on July 25, 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System Hospital. She was an active member of St. William Catholic Church. Her Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated there on August 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
Gloria had been a permanent resident of St Simons Island for 26 years. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law. She is survived by her husband, H. Russell Hair, 1 sister and brother-in-law, 3 nephews, 3 nieces, 6 grand nephews, and 4 grand nieces.
Gloria received her primary education in New York City and Teaneck, New Jersey. She graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Economics and received her Masters degree in Economics from the University of Michigan School of Business. She was a member of MENSA. She began her professional life on Madison Avenue and was associated with several major advertising firms as an Account Executive. Subsequently, she joined the American Broadcasting Company Network, New York, as Director Entertainment Research for network programing. Over her career she made many contributions to program broadcasting, and was highly respected by producers and associates in the broadcast industry.
Gloria was the "quintessential New York City Girl" who loved being there. She was very proud of her Sicilian lineage and family traditions. She will be missed by family and friends and long remembered for her loving compassionate manner, her love of life, her quick wit and never ending smile.
