It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Gregory Merritt, who left us on Saturday, May 18th at the age of 64. Surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moments, he was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones and his puppies, Amelia and Sophie.
Greg worked for Gulfstream Aerospace for 25 years as an Avionics, Special Missions Lead, as well as serving in the US Army and Air Force. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed a good game of golf, and was a dedicated Florida Gators fan.
Greg was preceded in death by his two sons, Joshua David Merritt, Benjamin Matthew Merritt and his father, Joseph Merritt. They are all together, casting a line to catch the next big one!
He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Terri (Sturges) Merritt, daughter, Sarah Merritt, granddaughter Elizabeth Merritt, her mother Sandy Barber, mother, Bonnie Merritt, brother Michael Merritt (Betty), Sister, Michelle Shelton (Wayne), and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life (visitation with family) on Thursday, May 23rd from 4-6 pm at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 24th at 11:00 AM at Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Shelton officiating. Lunch will be served at the King & Prince Resort on St. Simons Island, in the Retreat Room, immediately following the service. All friends, family, and co-workers are invited to attend.
