Born in Moultrie, Georgia, Dennis was the son of the late Herman Wilson Folsom and Adele Brown Folsom. Though born in Moultrie, he was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and a proud member of the community he served with compassion and integrity.
Dennis was a 1959 graduate of Glynn Academy and a 1962 graduate of Middle Georgia College in Cochran. Following college, he served honorably in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
After his military service, Dennis began his career in funeral service as an apprentice at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. He went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science from John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1969. For over four decades, Dennis served as a trusted funeral director and embalmer, helping thousands of families through some of their most difficult moments, until his retirement in 2015.
He was a longtime member of College Place United Methodist Church and a former member of the Graduate Embalmers of Georgia and Sigma Phi Sigma.
Dennis was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Sandra Holt; and his "adopted" grandson, Miccah G. Williamson. He was survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Holt Folsom, who passed away just one day later, on October 17, 2025. He is also survived by two sisters, Sue Ellen Green (Harley) and Elaine F. Hollamans (Larry); godson, Alan F. Wendel (Tracey); goddaughter, Amy Wendel Powers (Jason); and several cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A double funeral service for Dennis and Sharon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Contributions on his behalf can be made to College Place United Methodist Church.
