Harley Joseph Nolden

Harley Joseph Nolden, 75, of Brunswick, GA passed away Monday October 17, 2011 at the St. Joseph Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday October 21, 2011 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA with military honors.

Family will receive friends Friday October 21, 2011 from 9AM until the funeral hour at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Born February 12, 1936 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to the late Aloysius J. and Effie S. Nolden, he was retired from the US Army after serving for 26 years, and was the recipient of numerous medals including Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Bronze Star, Combat Medical Badge, and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star. Mr. Nolden was also a former firearms instructor with FLETC. He had been a resident of Glynn County since 1989, and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Nolden was also a gunsmith and coached All Army Pistol Team. He was a very loving and proud grandfather. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Nolden and Darrell Nolden.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Helga Nolden of Brunswick, two sons, Frank A. Nolden and wife Shayne of Conyers, and Marc Nolden and wife Lynette of Brunswick, one daughter, Sandi Jackson and husband Larry of Conyers, and 12 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers family request memorial contributions to be made to American Legion Dept. of Georgia 3035 Mt. Zion Rd. Stockbridge, GA 30281.
