Harris Branham Harvey Jr.

Mr. Harvey was born January 17, 1938 in Brunswick to Harris B. and Doris Lucille Bradham Harvey. He was a graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 1956, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Crash Crew.

He was a former resident of Fremont, NE for 18 years before returning to Brunswick 35 years ago. He was employed with the Fremont Fire Dept. for 18 years and was a Captain with the Recovery and Diving Team. He retired from Sea Island Company after 23 years as Paint Supervisor.

He has three wonderful children and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and loved his family deeply.

He loved fishing, Nascar, Georgia Bulldogs and Nebraska Cornhuskers football teams and their dog “Missy”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard Harvey.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Diane Mentzer Harvey of Brunswick, a daughter, Vicki Lynn Day of Brunswick, two sons, Mike Harvey (Karen) of Brunswick and Mark Harvey (Lisa) of Buford, GA, three brothers, Robert Harvey of Offerman, GA, Jerry Harvey and Tim Harvey both of Brunswick, two sisters, Mary Ross of Atkinson, GA, and Kathy Dowling of Buford, GA, 7 grandchildren, Nicole, Matt, Austin, Cole, Hannah, Julie, and Jonathan, 3 great grandchildren, Analise, Vanessa and Brooke, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday 11/15/11 in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Mr. Ernie Knight officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Military Honors at graveside.

Active pallbearers will be: Mark Harvey, Matt Harvey, Austin Harvey, Cole Harvey, Bill Mentzer and Kevin Mentzer. Honorary pallbearers will be: Robert Harvey, David Harvey, Darryl Mentzer, Shane Button, Chris Geren, Cotton Johnson, Ted McDonald, Bill Johnson Bill Kortumn, John Kupfer, Bob Ross, Wayne Stewart and Du Wayne Nevius

The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Monday 11/14/11 and the family request contributions to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA, 31525.
