Obituary of Hazel Jackson Freeman
Hazel Jackson Freeman, 76, of Darien, departed this life Sunday, January 16, 2022 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday, January 20, 2022 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverends Eddie Harmon and Mike Lynn officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in McIntosh County with Kirk Loder, JD Young, Brittany Blanton, Mike Freeman, David Mixon, Hal Wiggins, and Fred Hay serving as pallbearers. Born April 6, 1945 in Eastman, Georgia to the late Robert Duke and Sarah Louise S. Jackson, she was a graduate of Darien High School Class of 1963. She worked at Archie’s in Darien for over 20 years, and then went on to work in game management for the GA DNR. She was a lifelong resident of McIntosh County and attended Bennett Tabernacle in Hazelhurst. Mrs. Freeman was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, collecting books, shopping and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Jackson, Glenn Jackson, and Danny Jackson. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ellis Freeman, a daughter, Tricia Loder and husband Kirk, all of Darien, two grandchildren, Brittany Blanton and Carl Blanton, two great grandchildren, Grayson and Chandler Blanton, and a sister, Beverly Grinstead and husband Mark of Idaho. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
