Henry Franklin Roberson, 90, went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2013. Frank was born November 22, 1922 in Jesup, Georgia. After graduating from Jesup High School, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served as a Sergeant during WWII. He fought in campaigns on the Marshall Islands, Tinian and Saipan, and Iwo Jima.
After returning home from the war, Frank moved to Brunswick where he worked as a locomotive engineer at Hercules, Inc. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Brunswick where he served as a deacon and as president of the Brotherhood Association. He also volunteered his time in various ways including Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and serving as a Red Coat in the SGHS Auxiliary.
In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing, and working in his vegetable and rose gardens. He also looked forward to cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs each and every Fall.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Savard, and brother, Al Roberson, both of Brunswick. He is survived by his wife, Ivalee, and daughter, Marcia Wendel, both of Brunswick; son, Bernie Roberson of Waynesboro, VA; grandchildren: Alan Wendel of Brunswick, Amy Powers of Hoschton, GA, Mark Roberson of Charlottesville, VA, and Ben Roberson of Mechanicsville, VA; and great-grandchildren: Logan, Cadence, Cael, Mary Kate, Ellie, and Avery.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6 to 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 am at First Baptist.
