She was born in April of 1917 in Shirley, Massachusetts to the late Ralph and Elsie Holden Evans. Ida was an avid equestrian, artist and dulcimer player, who had lived in Tallahassee, Florida, and Balsam, North Carolina, before moving to St. Simons eight years ago.
She was preceded in death by husband Earl Leon Arnold, brother Homer Evans and two sisters, Esther Evans and Eva McLevy.
Ida is survived by daughter Susan Hoffman and husband Jeffrey of Sea Island, Georgia; son Philip Arnold and wife Sue of Tallahassee, Florida; grandson Grayson Hoffman (wife Jamie) of Jupiter, Florida; granddaughter Amanda Thaw (husband Jonathan) and great-grandson Andrew Thaw of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; brother Ralph Evans of Pittsboro, North Carolina and sister Ruby Johnson of Holden, Massachusetts.
A private family inurnment was held at the Christ Church Cemetery Columbarium on St. Simons Island.
