

James Howard Anderson, age 85, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida. He was born on August 26, 1940, in Surrency, Georgia, and throughout his life remained a man of remarkable intellect, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Known as a brilliant mathematician and gifted teacher, James touched countless lives through his knowledge, kindness, and generous spirit. He found great joy in spending time with family and friends, participating in Bible study, and living a life rooted in faith, fellowship, and service to others.
A proud military veteran, James earned his master’s degree in mathematics from Florida State University and was a dedicated member of the Moose Club. His passion for learning and teaching left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Howard Anderson, Sr. and Lillian Lucille Hutto Anderson; his paternal grandparents, Frank Atkinson Anderson and Minnie Moody Anderson; his maternal grandparents, John Hutto and Ellen Campbell Hutto Murray; and his step-grandfather, Windle Murray.
James leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his devoted companion, Sarah Cajoleas of Florida; his sisters, Joan Roach (Sebron) of Louisiana and Joyce Anderson Williams (James) of Georgia; his daughters, Lori Anderson Mashburn (Phillip) of Florida, Dori Anderson Butler of Georgia, Paige Anderson Weeks of Georgia, and Bonnie Chaney of Florida; five cherished grandchildren; two beloved great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He also shared a special bond with Cody Lewis, Lindsay Lewis Brodrick (Stuart), Matt Lewis, and Nick Lewis, who were family to him in every way that mattered.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate James's life during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, followed by interment at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
Though he will be deeply missed, James's legacy of faith, wisdom, compassion, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
