

James E. “Jimmy” Hancock, 74, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Senior Care Center in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 21, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Brunswick with Rev. Jimmy Crandall, Dr. Peter Vivenzio and Raymond Mock officiating. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park with Members of the Exchange Club of Brunswick serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wisdom Seekers Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, Mr. & Mrs. John Lovvorn, Mr. Bob Brown, Mr. Jim Gould, Mr. Jim Conine, Mr. Robbie Dotson, Mr. Don Borklund, Dr. Wade Strickland, Jan Dorsey, Marjorie Langford, Mr. Arthur Pittman, Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Kaufman, Mr. & Mrs. Brady Turner, Mr. Ricky Laager, Mr. & Mrs. Laverne Strickland, Mr. Bobby Roebuck and Mr. & Mrs. Tom Welchel.
Born March 22, 1936 in Pike County Georgia to the late Roy Bernard and Marietta Eppinger Hancock, he was the owner and operator of Zell – Hancock Insurance Agency. Mr. Hancock was a 1954 graduate of Pike County High School and a 1958 graduate of Georgia Southern. A resident of Glynn County for over 51 years, he was an avid golfer, a past president of The Exchange Club, served as president of the school board, and was a member of the Brunswick Country Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brunswick and had had served as a deacon, a trustee and Sunday School Director.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marcia A. Hancock of Brunswick, three daughters, Jana Ann Johnson and husband Kenneth of Savannah, Susan Paige Fagan and husband Allen of Brunswick, Jamie Allen Bearden and husband Mark of Brunswick, three grandchildren, Chrissy Bearden and husband Wes, Brett James Bearden and Courtney Leigh Johnson.
