James Cannon Harper began his journey home on Sept. 17, 2011. He was born in Douglas, Ga. Oct. 4, 1969 to Arthur J. Harper Jr. and Verlyn Harper Kight and was joined a few years later by his brother Vickers.
Cannon graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in forestry. He loved traveling and games and at one time was the Monopoly Champion of Georgia.
He treasured nature in all forms and was always surrounded by his favorite plants. In his garden you could find anything from cacti to cabbages, from roses to trees.
Cannon’s life was defined, not by what he did, but who he was – always loving, accepting, and compassionate.
Missing him will be his mother, Verlyn Harper Kight and stepfather Bobby Kight, his brother Vickers Harper and wife Beva, Bobby C. Kight, John G. Kight, Samantha L. Dixon, aunt and uncle, Greg and Vicki Grantham. Also, his father Arthur J. Harper, Jr. and Annie Harper, Niki McCauley, Noah Mayeux, his aunt and uncle, Richard and Brenda Harper, and so many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who knew him as family. Everyone who met Cannon knew that they had touched someone very special.
